2017 Moonshot Summer Teacher Institute:
An Awfully Big Adventure
July 17 - 21, 2017
The 2017 Moonshot Summer Teacher Institute inspired educators and taught them new ways to connect with their students and their practice. This unique and powerful professional development was a great way to close the summer and launch into a new school year!
Educators embarked on an adventure with Ollie and Billy to learn what true friendship means, while building the social emotional skills critical for teaching and learning. Anchored in William Joyce’s delightful text, Ollie’s Odyssey, participants learned how to develop engaging, interdisciplinary curriculum along with strategies to build a safe, nurturing classroom environment. This comprehensive approach to curriculum design has the rigor to meet today's standards while building empathy, compassion and the social emotional competencies of both educators and students. Learning the structures, routines and rituals necessary for effective classroom management educators can transform their classrooms.
